As Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Smith oversees and directs Advocate, MD's accounting practices, financial planning, purchasing, long range forecasting, treasury and tax activities, and information technology for the organization. He further develops the Company's relationships with financial institutions, shareholders, customers and the insurance community, and otherwise directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business and financial conditions and their impact on the Company's policies and operations.

He is an accomplished driver of strong accounting and finance control, developed and strengthened throughout his career in insurance. Mr. Smith has proven multiple talents essential to managing high-tech, high-growth insurance oriented enterprises and projects. He has extensive hands-on experience with strategic analysis, business plans, finance, regulatory compliance and technology management.

Mr. Smith has over 23 years experience in handling technical accounting and tax matters and over 18 in the life and property and casual insurance industry. He served 13 years at the Texas Hospital Insurance Exchange (THIE) as Vice President/CFO and Assistant Treasurer/Secretary.
